The Festival Showcase will be on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 7:00 at the Sage Creek High School Performing Arts Center, 3900 Cannon Road. (The Cultural Arts Center on the CHS campus is closed for renovation). Come support the CHS students as they prepare for the 4th Annual Carlsbad Theatre Festival!
The Carlsbad High School Intermediate Theatre students performed a stage version of the children’s classic story Charlotte’s Web on Friday, January 13, 2017 and the PreAdvanced/Advanced Theatre students presented their audience interactive production of Two Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind (30 plays in 60 minutes) by Greg Allen on Friday, January 20 and Saturday, January 21, 2017. All shows were at 7:00 P.M. in the Carlsbad Cultural Arts Center on the Carlsbad High School campus.
The Carlsbad High School Advanced Theatre students present an evening of humorous scenes about “Friends and Frenemies” on Wednesday, June 8, at 7:00 P.M. in the CAC. Admission is free.
PreAdvanced/Intermediate Theatre invites you to THE MONOLOGUE SHOW by Don Zolidis on Friday, June 10, at 7:00 P.M. in the CAC. Admission is free to this comedy about a fictional drama class presenting an evening of monologues, featuring senior Matt Brent as the drama teacher, Mr. Banks.
The Carlsbad High School Theatre Department presented two productions in January 2016. The first was ALICE IN WONDERLAND, adapted from the Lewis Carroll children’s classic by Scott Hunter, performed for one night only on Thursday, January 14, at 7:00 P.M. by the Intermediate Theatre and PreAdvanced Theatre students. Costumes were by Sue Team and Audrey Oberman.
On January 22 and 23, the Advanced Theatre and Advanced Technical Theatre students presented Tina Howe’s MUSEUM. MUSEUM has the audience experience the last day of a three-artist show at a contemporary art museum with the patrons and the guards.
Both productions were at the Carlsbad Cultural Arts Center, 3557 Monroe Street, Carlsbad.
On Saturday, October 24, 138 Theatre students from Carlsbad High School, Sage Creek High School,Calavera Hills Middle School, and Aviara Oaks Middle School performed at the 1st Annual Carlsbad Theatre Festival. They received feedback from theatre professionals, and celebrated theatre together. Adjudicators included college faculty from Cal State San Marcos, San Diego State, Palomar College, Mesa College, Cal Poly Pomona, professional directors and actors from North Coast Rep, Moonlight Amphitheatre, and theatres in Orange County and L.A..
