Mrs. Hall Retires After 37 Years as the Carlsbad High School Theatre Teacher

Posted by carlsbadhstheatre on June 21, 2017
Posted in: Uncategorized. Tagged: Monica Hall. Leave a comment

After 37 years at CHS, Mrs. Monica Hall has taken her final bow as the teacher in charge of “high school drama”.

She says:

“To go to ‘work’ and do what you love every day is a blessing.  Seeing students catch the theatre ‘bug’ and grow and blossom as performers and as people has been my joy.  I can say that I never had a boring day, watching students exploring their artistic talents, and was lucky to teach with such a dedicated department and great colleagues.  Special thanks to CHS teacher Jeff Spanier, vice principal Chris Robertson, and former CHS teachers Wayne Beauvais and Tom Robertson, as well as staff member Shirley Wong, who took the risk to become actors in our musicals and trusted me as their director.  I have been fortunate to work with a great team to create theatre magic, such as Sue Team and Jane Craig-Jones as costume designers; Jim Shepard, Ed Brahams, Heather Megill, Lyle Stone, Elan McMahan and Lyndon Pugeda as music directors; Mark Sell, Tom Ontiveros, Tali Ward-Collier, Sean Hoban, Justin Hall, Justin Smiley, Daniel Czypinski, Elizabeth Ables and Briana McClure as technical directors.  Students in the Carlsbad Unified School District are blessed to have Judi Farkaly Stapleton, Andrea Schuck Emert, Olivia Schulenburg Hardy and Jillian Porter (all CHS Theatre alumni) to guide them in their theatre studies.

I may be retiring from my position, but I will always be an arts educator and a Lancer.  Thank you for your support of the CHS Theatre students… you really cannot know how much your attendance at productions and hearing your applause and saying “Good job” means to them… and has meant to me, too.

Thanks for the memories.”
